The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) seeking to confer educational qualifications to 1.3 lakh personnel through its community colleges for grant of B.Sc. / M.Sc. (Security Operations).
The MoU was signed by U.S. Tolia, Registrar, IGNOU and Mr. H.V. Chaturvedi, Inspector General, CISF headquarters of Ministry of Home.
According to the MoU, the CISF personnel possessing intermediate degree shall be eligible to enroll for Bachelors Degree Program in Security Operations from IGNOU consisting of 96 credits with 32 credits on successful completion of basic training at National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) / Regional Training Centers (RTCs) and 64 credits to be earned in second and third year. On successful completion of second year (32 credits), personnel will be awarded an Associate Degree in the same.
“Individuals who have not completed 10+2 examination prior to joining CISF will be required to do a bridge programme of at least one semester of 16 credits simultaneously along with the registration for bachelors degree,” it added.
N.R. Das, IPS, Director General of CISF said, “I have observed that a large number of personnel come from rural and humble backgrounds. This programme will be highly beneficial to them.”
